On November 14/15, 2019, twenty (20) CWA members from CWA Locals 7200 and 7201 who work at CTL/LQ attended a two-day CWA Safety Training. The participants work outside as field technicians and center workers were able to share and network with each other.

As one participant stated, “(I) learned more of what of what the outside techs have to deal with as of safety issues vs. inside people.” One of the key issues trained in this class was “knowledge is powerful if shared”. During the class, we identified one of the items that are a barrier from the Union to provide an effective safety program is the lack of effective communications between our members, local union representatives within a local and other locals, and the National Union.

One of the communications tools that were shared during this safety class was the D-7 website Quick Jump that has several Safety links; “Safety”, “Safety and OSHA”, “Safety- CTL/LQ”, and “Safety Weekly News Alerts”.
