We are All IN for a Fair Contract at Lumen!
023 LUMEN CONTRACT COUNTDOWN – Midnight on April 1, 2022 marks one year to the expiration of our contract with Lumen. A lot has happened at the company since last bargaining – from surpluses and voluntary separations to vacation blocking and L2S to name a few. Lumen’s harmful actions aren’t a mistake, they are deliberate tactics used to distract, weaken and divide us.
Starting this month we will begin organizing an “I’m All In For A Fair Contract” pledge drive which we will launch publicly on March 31st. Join us and show your union power by:
- Signing the “I’m All In For A Fair Contract” pledge card; online or download the PDF version here:
I'm all In for a Fair Contract at Lumen Pledge Card (1.5 MiB)
- Taking a selfie, wearing red with a “I’m All In For A Fair Contract” sign, and/or;
- Using the “I’m All In For A Fair Contract” zoom background on work calls.
We are at a turning point in this country. Which side are you on? Do we continue on the path of the status quo where we continue to lose ground as workers? Or do we forge a new path, fighting forward together for a fair contract and for our future CWA members at Lumen? While none of us can predict the future, we won’t win anything better by sitting on the sidelines. Here are two things you can do today:
- Early Bargaining starts this Monday June 27th, if you haven’t done so please fill out the bargaining survey here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/
r/Lumen_2023_bargaining_survey - CWA D7 will be doing a week of mobilization coinciding with early bargaining next week. Click here to get CWA D7 Early Bargaining and Fight Forward at Lumen updates on your phone.

CWA members at Lumen Fight for MLK Day for All
On MLK Day January 17, 2022, leaders of Workers United Against Racism at Lumen (WUARL) organized on multiple fronts to expose Lumen’s racist and also union busting tactics. While Lumen claims to honor Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy by granting it as a paid holiday, it does so for only non union employees. This is classic woke washing – saying you are anti-racist meanwhile your actions actively divide workers across racel and class lines. These actions by Lumen defile everything MLK stood and fought for and WUARL responded publicly.
WUARL celebrated and honored the day, activating their twitter account to engage in the larger debate about anti-racism, corporate woke-washing as well as engaging our members and also Lumen. WUARL members also organized an evening webinar weaving personal stories of courage, the national and local issues and the impact if we sit on the sidelines with the hope of what we can do together if we fight back.
