Life insurance Scam (R004)
We have received word from District 7 RMC President that one of our retiree’s widow had
someone attempt to scam her stating they were from CenturyLink. Below is the message from Judy Fries:
I just received a phone call from a lady who lost her husband a month ago. In the obit it only
said he worked at the phone company. The phone call she received said this lady was from
CenturyLink and in order to send her the life insurance the retiree’s wife had to pay the last 3
payments or installments. She told her to go to Office Max and get 3 cards and load $1,000 on
each one; then mail it to CenturyLink at a certain address and then she will receive the life
insurance.
The retiree’s wife was very vulnerable and started to do it but her daughter stopped her.
Just a heads up, share with your chapters that this is not the way CenturyLink will send out the
life insurance.

AT&T Mobility Orange Contract Negotiations and Mobilization (R003)
Contract negotiations for the AT&T Mobility Orange Contract began on January 25, 2017. In an opening statement on the first day of bargaining the Company expressed that “the relationship with CWA is valued and they are proud to be the only Union wireless carrier.” Unfortunately their actions at the bargaining table tell a very different story. They continue to delay or refuse to fulfill CWA’s data requests. Despite enormous profits, AT&T wants to weaken job security, offshore our work, close corporate stores and move the work to authorized retailers. This is not the way to show our members they are valued. Read more……
